Just one week ago Zack “Danger” Brown from Columbus, Ohio had a craving for some potato salad. Zack is a very creative guy and loves attempting projects on the crowd funding website Kickstarter. He set a goal to reach $10 for a potato salad to enjoy. Well he never expected what happened next. The internet fell in love with this idea and started sharing his goal all over social media. Over the next 3 days Zacks goal was met almost immediately and had grown exponentially into just over 2,000 backers pledging $16,000 toward his first potato salad ever.
Zack was immediately blown away with this and knew that he had to let it grow. He then started to add some hilarious ‘stretch goals’.
His first goal was for $10 which he reached almost immediately. His next stretch goal was a pizza party at $75 and two different potato salads at $100. The latest ‘stretch goal’ was a pizza party for the whole internet for $3,000 which was easily reached within a few minutes.
Heres what your donation will get you if you decide to be a backer.
Last month Kickstarter loosened its restrictions and you can basically ask the internet to pay for anything legal now. Why not some delicious potato salad?
Well it’s been one week since the project was placed on Kickstarter and now Zack and his potato salad are only growing faster and faster. He is now at just under $70,000 but will be well above that by the time you read this.
Zack does state he plans to do as much good as possible with whatever he ends up raising for his potato salad and he has 23 days left. When asked why he thought this project took off like it did he responded that “it’s fun and it’s creating a fun community. Potato salad has brought us together.”
Unfortunately Kickstarter doesn’t allow Zack to make his potato salad and donate the excess to charity however he will use it for good. I can’t wait to see just where this goes in 23 days and whats next for Zack ‘Danger” Brown.
