When The Ground Looks Like It’s Breathing, It’s Time To Start Running

There are few things in this life more terrifying than earthquakes. If you’re lucky, you’ll never have to experience one firsthand. But even if you never endure the horror of an actual earthquake, there are plenty more tectonic phenomena out there that seem to be designed with terror in mind.

Take this video, for example. It was taken in the town of La Spezia, Italy. The footage shows a cobblestone street “breathing,” with the calming sound of rushing water in the background.

Okay, what’s going on here?

The cause of what’s happening is most likely a cavern under the street with water running through it. One commenter speculates that perhaps the movement is caused by waves crashing nearby.
