Many women dream of the day they can start a family of their own. When the day finally comes, it is a joyous time for them. It’s not that simple for every women, however. They may have issues getting pregnant, and their dream may be shattered. One striving mother knows this all too well.
Aimee Morrisby longed to be pregnant and become a Mom for as long as she can remember. Unforntunately, at a young age, Aimee was diagnosed with a bowel disease that left behind scar tissue in her abdomen. She didn’t know the extent of the damage that was done until she was 21-years-old. She was told by the doctor if she tried to conceive, she may have complications with her uterus.
When the time came for Aimee to start a family, she spent five years trying to get pregnant. Sadly however, Aimee had difficulties becoming pregnant.
Aimee and her husband Jake tried everything, including IVF treatments (resulting in four miscarriages in five years). Aimee even went to a digestive specialist, who confirmed that her abdomen was a ball of scar tissue and warned her that her reproductive system was most likely compromised.
When Aimee realized she may never be able to get pregnant, she shared her feelings with her sister, Shayna. Shayna tried the very best she could to comfort her sister, but Aimee was heartbroken.
One night, Aimee got a call from her sister. Shayna ‘Let’s have a baby.’ Shayna was already a mom of two, and she said she willing to carry her sister Aimee and her husband Jake’s baby for them.
Aimee was ecstatic! A short time later, Shayna was impregnated with one of Aimee’s embryos.
Aimee went to every sonogram and every doctor’s appointment with Shayna for the entire nine months of her pregnancy. Aimee and Shayna’s husbands were extremely supportive throughout the whole process.
They decided on a water birth. Aimee held Shayna’s hand during the whole deliver. Shayna gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby girl, and Aimee and Jake got to cut the cord.
They named her Francesca Louise Morrisby. Both couples had a tremendously beautiful experience. Shayna’s selfless act of love is so endearing!
Aimee reflected on the whole experience with this piece of advice for similar women who may be also struggling to become pregnant:
“My biggest advice to mothers that are pushing themselves to the brink is that it is OK to stop trying in your own body. At the end of the day there is no way my own daughter would be as happy and healthy if I had given birth to her.”
